Narrowboat insurance

We are looking at what insurance companies there are for insuring your narrowboat.  We're hoping to choose one that you can get the policy online.  I've looked at quite a few and he premiums are all very similar.

Who do you have your boat insured with?  Who would you recommend?

Hi Elly, I have insured with 'Craftinsure.com' for the last 8 years. Never had to claim, so can't comment on that side of things, but it is so simple to be with. Auto renewal unless you don't want to, and everything online. I check every year, but the price difference between them and others is negligible. When that have received a lot of claims from their customers due to storms etc., they send emails out with advice on how to avoid falling into the same trap.

We use Towergate Mardon www.towergatemardon.com It's a special policy for live-aboards. We've never needed to make a claim so can't comment on how good they are, but we do it all online and they seem very efficient (and are competitively priced too)

Hi Guys
We tried 3 different insurance companies but they wouldn't insure us because we weren't UK residents for 1 year plus we had no UK address, so we ended up getting my brother to insure it, basically everything is in his name.
I am sure it is possible though, when that Tassie couple bought a boat, the broker sorted it for them as they were having the same problems.
