A day in port - Middlewich

Still at Bridge 30, Middlewich
Total to date : 99 miles, 47 locks, 20 lift bridges, 6 tunnels, 6 aqueducts

I'm not quite sure what happened to today.  One minute it was here and the next it was gone.

I tried to make a reasonably early start on my work for the day as we were expecting Roger this morning - to cut back our radiator - and I needed to get a GST job out the way for the weekend.  Luckily they (Yvonne came with him) arrived slightly later than anticipated as I wasn't quite done yet!  Mick got the kettle on which gave me the final five minutes I needed.

We were ready with our list of questions and once they and the cups of tea were through, the job got under way.  With a bit of advice on how and where and what to install we are ready to go with the project now.  When they finished up and headed off I couldn't believe it when I looked at the clock.  It was after 1.30pm.  Roger and Yvonne, thanks so much for coming out today and answering our questions and sorting out the radiator.  We have a much better idea of how things work in our boat now.

We had a very quick bite to eat and went off on our walk down to the junction and then turned left towards town to check out the mooring situation down there.  We're thinking we'll move there tomorrow so Mick will have another couple of days access to the hardware store while preparing the stove corner.

Another visit to Tesco to whittle down our shopping list a bit further and by the time we were back at the boat it was 4pm.  There was still the shopping to pack away and the mess to tidy up.  By the time that was all done it was dark.  Now, what happened to today?!

Today in pictures :
1. The work in progress
2. A pretty boat - Bernice, this one's for you!
3. Our evening visitor - such a long neck she reaches right to the kitchen window

In the drink to date : Elly's phone charger (retrieved - it floated!), Mick's sunglasses, hearth brush, mooring hook (retrieved with sea searcher)

The second most commonly asked question (after,'is it cold in winter?') is 'what do you do with yourselves all day?'. I have no idea how to answer this, I never really know what I do, but the days don't half vanish at great speed!!Jill
