There would likely be a lot of money to be spent on the extras necessary for a liveaboard.
Price : £60,000
Length : 60ft
Stern : Trad
Positives :
It's new and we can choose a name!
We like the blue paint colour
Lovely timberwork
The second cabin - we'd convert one bunk to a desk area
Excellent access from trad deck
The dresser in the galley
There are wo sets of side hatches
It has a nice open feel
Negatives :
Not keen on the curved doorways
The description doesn't say anything about the electrics (what would you get at this price?)
Not much else

This is a new 60 foot boat for £60K. £1K/foot is reported to be the absolute minimum build price at present, and this one looks to be great quality. It just goes to show we are very much in a buyers market right now.
I don't know what happened with this blog entry. Only the link showed up when I posted it. I typed it up again!

I've never heard of Dreams Afloat before, so was intrigued. Although I haven't managed to prove 100% I believe that this brand comes from a specialist Cheshire/Staffordshire joinery company http://www.lskjoinery.co.uk/builder-crewe.html who will have fitted out a shell. If it is, their work looks to be of high quality. It certainly looks the part with The Bosch washer, Shoreline fridge/freezer etc.
Peter, I tried googling them and couldn't find anything about them. For a low cost new boat it looks good doesn't it. Any cheap new ones that we saw when we were browsing were obviously on the low price side. You could see it in the workmanship and fittings. This one doesn't seem to have that appearance at all. I wonder if it's too good to be true?
I know it is probable that nothing will come of this at this early stage in your planning, but I remain intrigued and there is nothing wrong with investigating an interest! Short of ringing Harral and asking for proper details, (which I would do with this boat if I didn't already own one), I have analysed the file details of the photo of the exterior of the boat. It says the date the pic was taken was September 2009. So, either the date was set wrong on the camera, or this has been for sale a while now. Could it be a cancelled order? Next, an unknown, so not popular fitter, coupled with a "run of the mill" off the peg shell fabricator could be the reason the boat is at the cheaper end of the market, as we have previously discussed. Having said that, the quality of workmanship and materials displayed in the joinery, linked to the fact it is already fitted with washer and fridge freezer, (and thus would require suitable electrics to be also fitted), together with its quality Yanmar Shire engine, tell me that this could be a bargain buy that, if I were in the market right here and now, would require further enquiries. Have you thought of buying and lodging with a hire fleet until you need it???!!!! I think you have!
Peter, we're thinking alike. I've emailed Harral to ask for further info. You just never know! Wait for an update to this blog entry.
