Cruising on a rainy day

Romiley to Ashton under Lyne : 5 miles, 0 locks
To date : 1052 miles, 756 locks

It has been raining today from the moment we woke up until at least when it got dark.  There was no break from it, just variations in intensity!

We decided we would move on regardless.  The  mooring at Romiley wasn't fantastic and we want to be on track for some help through the locks of Manchester.  The Kiwis are due to arrive at Heathrow Wednesday morning and they're keen to help out Thursday.  Perfect for us.

I got some work done while Mick stood out in the rain.  There were some shallow sections and we noticed there was really nowhere we could have moored if we had gone beyond Romiley so it's lucky we didn't.  I didn't take photos while we cruised today!

We were pleased to see the moorings just before the junction of the Peak Forest Canal and the Ashton. It's close to the amenities of Ashton Under Lyne but feels rural.  We could be anywhere.
