20 years !

A bit of a milestone today..... our 20th wedding anniversary.  Who would have thought we would be in England on a boat on this day.

We had a quiet day.  A walk to Asda, a boat inspection, a journey down to the boatyard to have the loo pumped out and some coal.  We would have bought diesel but unfortunately their diesel hose wouldn't reach our tank when we went into the little arm facing the right way for the loo to be pumped out.  The young fellow was less than helpful. He just stood back and watched Mick lug the bags of coal to the boat.  When we asked Barry later, he said the same had happened when they went down there this morning.  A strapping young man just stands there while a pensioner (sorry Barry!) heaves the coal bags!  Not very good customer service.  It was a slow process reversing back to our mooring and not helped by the wind that had picked up a little.   So now we will fill the diesel tank on our way out of Manchester. We still have half a tank.

This afternoon we had a bit of an unpleasant half hour or so.  There's a bench seat right beside where we are moored.  So far we've had only passing dog walkers but this afternoon a group of about half a dozen adults with a few young kids hung around there drinking.  They were deliberately putting one of the toddlers up against the boat, or perhaps it was on the roof but we couldn't see, almost daring us to come out and do something about it.  They could see through the window that we were inside.  It's only the second time we've had any sort of unpleasantness.  We were very happy to see them walking away.
