Fazeley Junction to Tamworth : 2 miles, 2 locks
To date : 169 miles, 113 locks, 20 lift bridges, 7 tunnels, 7 aqueducts
We decided to move on today although we didn't go far. We decided to moor on the other side of Tamworth but still within walking distance of the retail park. There were a couple of locks to negotiate and barely a couple of miles of cruising.
So far we hadn't seen Tamworth town centre so went to have a look. The approach was very pretty with Tamworth Castle visible as we walked and a profusion of Spring flowers along a bank. Mick and I went back to the retail park to shop yet again. By the time we got back to the boat we were worn out. We've walked miles the last 3 or 4 days, lugging shopping back to the boat. Certainly won't do me any harm though!
We were chatting at a lock today and the lady mentioned how the trees have been bare for 5 months now. At first I thought she must have made a mistake but, no..... by mid-November the leaves had fallen and here we are in mid-April and we've only seen the very first sprigs of green leaves in the last couple of days.
The days are getting longer and the weather is getting milder. It's light when our central heating comes on at 5.30am and it's not dark until 8pm or so. I'm always surprised when a boat goes past in the dark. Tonight one just went by at 9.30pm.
