Can anyone give us advice for mooring on the way out of Birmingham via Farmers Bridge and Aston locks? Is there somewhere safe around Salford Junction?
Hi Elli, Both times we were there we moored on the offside pontoon mooring at Star City, no the prettiest but safe and the bw key lets you into the delights of Star City itself!! Hope all good with you both. Nick and Emma xx
Yes, Star City is about your only option there. But if you come down the Aston Locks you'll either need to reverse through the junction to the moorings, or reverse out the next morning. You might want to consider coming down Farmer's Bridge and then taking the other route through the Garrison Locks. Garrison gets a bad press, but I quite like it! Then you come past Star City anyway, and can carry on towards Minworth.
Alternatively, you could keep going a bit further, and get past the Minworth locks. There are decent safe moorings at Wiggins Hill Road Bridge.
