Dinner on Winton's Folly

We had a lovely dinner last night with Carol and Barry on nb Winton's Folly.  We had a great chat and really enjoyed hearing about their trials and tribulations.  It wasn't all serious talk. There was the obligatory loo discussion and degenerated a little from there...

Thanks very much guys, we enjoyed your company!

It is such a huge relief to us to find that other boaters have found the first few months very challenging too. I've tried to write honestly about our experiences... sometimes at the risk of sounding like a whinger!  When we look back at the blog in years to come I'd rather remember things as they were rather than a rosy version of them.

We are hopeful that by Christmas we will have our heating woes resolved. The new Eberspacher boiler should arrive this week and Thursday we will head off in a hire car to order our solid fuel stove. I can't wait to have a toasty warm boat. It will help the washing dry faster too. I miss getting up  to a warm bedroom - thanks to the central heating timer.

There has been a solo visitor at our bow. It seems one of the swan youngsters has been booted from the nest. The other young are still with the parents so we feel a bit sorry for this one. It's been on its own about 2 or 3 days that I've noticed and comes looking for bread and company.

Tomorrow I will have to set the alarm. Diane (nb Ferndale) and I are going to Birmingham to check out their Christmas market.

Look forward to seeing your pics. We enjoyed it, but I think the weekend crowds would have been difficult.
